Landscaping in Castle Hills

Castle Hills is its own small city, completely surrounded by San Antonio, with established custom homes on generous, heavily wooded lots. Many of these yards were planted decades ago. RedMill Landscapes helps owners keep the shade and character while replacing the parts that no longer work: tired lawns, cracked patios and beds that have outgrown the house.

What we build in Castle Hills

Refreshing an established yard

Older lots come with things a new build doesn’t: roots close to the surface, years of mulch and leaf litter, and grades that have settled. We clear out what has to go, protect the trees worth keeping, and build new beds and paving on a properly prepared base.

Recent work in Castle Hills

Just outside Castle Hills in Oakwell Farms, we turned a grass bed the homeowner was tired of maintaining into an easy-care xeriscape with black beach pebble, boulders, a mini dry creek bed for drainage and low-voltage lighting. See the Oakwell Farms project →

See our work: browse finished xeriscapes, turf, patios and walls on our projects page, then tell us about your yard.

FAQ

Castle Hills FAQ

Will turf work under my trees?

Usually, yes. Artificial turf handles shade and doesn’t need sun to stay green. We plan the base and drainage so leaves and water don’t sit on it.

Do I need a permit?

Castle Hills is a separate city from San Antonio. Some projects may need a city permit, so check with the city early and we’ll provide the plan details.
